Golf holidays in France: choose your format and your region

Golf holidays in France in one paragraph

A golf holiday, or golf break, combines hotel nights and green fees, sometimes with spa treatments or lessons. In France, three formats lead: the hotel on the course, golf with thalassotherapy, and the budget break. Here are real offers, checked on 1 October 2026, and the 13 regions to choose from. Our database lists 686 golf courses in mainland France, 407 of them with an 18-hole course.

What a golf holiday includes

  • Accommodation. A hotel on the course, a hotel in town, a holiday cottage (gîte) or a residence.
  • Green fees. The fee to play a course. Hotel offers often include one per night.
  • Extras. Breakfast or half board, spa access, lessons with a golf professional.
  • Access conditions. Full-size courses ask for the carte verte, according to the French Golf Federation, and sometimes a French golf licence. The Hôtel du Golf Barrière in Deauville states it in the terms of its golf offer.

Check this point before you book. Our page playing golf in France as a visitor explains the carte verte and what to ask the course. If you are new to golf, pick a course with a compact course, which you can usually play without the carte verte.

Golf holiday formats in France

The hotel on the course, all included

You sleep next to the course and play without taking the car. Examples we checked:

  • L'Hôtel du Golf, Deauville (Calvados). The "Golf break" offer of the Barrière hotels includes a double room, breakfasts and one green fee per night, to play at the Golf Barrière de Deauville or the Golf Barrière de Saint-Julien. Carte verte and licence required.
  • Domaine de la Bretesche, Missillac (Loire-Atlantique). A Relais & Châteaux hotel set on a 27-hole golf course.

Golf and thalassotherapy

You play the course in the morning and enjoy spa treatments in the afternoon. Two addresses on the Atlantic coast:

  • La Baule (Loire-Atlantique). The Hôtel Barrière Le Royal is connected to the Thalasso & Spa Barrière. Its "Golf break" offer includes a double room, breakfast, one green fee for two people per night and access to the pools, saunas and steam rooms. The Golf International Barrière has 45 holes, in Saint-André-des-Eaux.
  • Biarritz (Pyrénées-Atlantiques). The Sofitel Biarritz Le Miramar houses a thalassotherapy centre. The agency Golf & More sells a 3-night package with breakfast and one green fee at the Golf de Biarritz le Phare, priced on request depending on the dates. Its longer packages add a green fee at the Golf de Chiberta, in Anglet.

The budget golf break

Two things bring the bill down: playing several times with a pass, and staying in group accommodation. Compare dates too: offers change with the season.

  • The green fee pass. Bluegreen sells a pass of 5 green fees to play within 7 days on 15 coastal courses: Baden, Le Croisic, Gujan-Mestras, Houlgate, Lacanau, l'Odet, Pléneuf-Val-André, Ploemeur Océan, Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, Rochefort Océan, Rhuys-Kerver, Savenay, Saint-Laurent and Val Quéven. The pass is in your name. You stay wherever you like.
  • Full board. UCPA houses golfers aged 18 to 55 in Lacanau Océan and Les Deux Alpes, one week full board, with lessons, clubs and range balls included.

The holiday with a golf school

If you want to improve during your holiday, book a golf school that includes the hotel. Formats, levels and places are on our page residential golf schools.

Budget: what the offers advertise

Prices change with the season and the number of nights. Price ranges taken on 1 October 2026, to confirm when you book:

  • Golf & More, Sofitel Biarritz Le Miramar, 3 nights and 1 green fee: from 470 € per person;
  • UCPA, one week full board with lessons: from 710 to 845 € per person depending on the date, travel not included.

Compare like with like: number of green fees, meals, spa access, lessons, and cancellation terms. The Barrière offers mentioned here are non-refundable.

Golf holidays by region

For a golf holiday, look first at the number of 18-hole courses: that is what lets you play a different course each day. Figures from our database, updated on 2026-10-01.

  • The Atlantic coast has both golf and thalassotherapy addresses listed above and the 15 courses of the Bluegreen pass.
  • The French Riviera holds most of the offer in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur: Alpes-Maritimes and Var have 39 golf courses between them.
  • Normandy has 48 golf courses, 27 of them with an 18-hole course, and the golf offer of the Barrière hotels in Deauville.

  5. Does the golf club hire out clubs and buggies?
  6. Is the offer refundable if I cancel?
